The Ultimate Roller Shade Measurement Guide: Everything You Need to Know
Learn how to measure for roller shades like a pro! This comprehensive guide covers everything from inside and outside mount measurements to choosing the right bracket type. We’ll also explain the important details about bracket and fabric width differences so you can make the best choice for your space. Whether you're installing shades for the first time or looking for expert tips, this guide has you covered.
Inside Mount:
Measure the exact width of your window opening—don’t make it narrower. We’ll take care of the adjustments needed for the brackets to fit properly.
Outside Mount:
Choose the exact width you’d like for your shade. For the best coverage, we recommend adding 2–4 inches (about 5–10 cm) wider on each side of your window frame.
For the height, add 3–6 inches (about 8–15 cm) above the window frame to allow space for the mounting hardware. This helps the shade lift fully above the window when open.

Tips: A valance covers the top mechanism of the shade, giving the window a polished, finished look.
Please note, to install a valance, your window depth must be at least 8 cm (3.15") for an inside mount.
